PROJECT 3

The ozone hole over Antarctica changes ever year. Be able to explain to the class how the ozone hole has changed in THREE WAYS since 1979. Be sure to have evidence from the TOMS website to support your argument.

Objectives: the student will be able to:

-analyze TOMS ozone data to determine how the ozone hole changes
-critically analyze TOMS ozone data to determine if the ozone hole over Antarctica is getting worse

Summary: This project is designed so students will investigate the specifics of the ozone hole. The ozone hole over Antarctica changes many ways:

(1) It moves. On a daily basis, the minimum ozone value moves.
(2) The minimum ozone value changes every year. From 1979-1996, it progressively got worse.
(3) The ozone hole changes in size every year. From 1982-1995, its size increased by a factor of 12!!!
